Like the living room, the den has a vaulted ceiling, as well as four windows facing west toward the front yard and the street. There is a bar to my left, and a green leather couch that still smells of smoke from when Howard accidentally set it on fire. I walk out the front door and around through the carport into the screened-in porch. It’s slanted so that the room narrows on the south side of the house.
Our largest meetings & events space, The Ballroom, is perfect for any gathering with up to 1,000 people. The Guest House also includes a 464-seat theater for presentations or ceremonies. Lisa Marie Presley passed away on Jan. 12 at 54, hours after being hospitalized following an apparent cardiac arrest. She was the only daughter of the late music legend Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley. The last member of the Presley family to occupy Graceland mansion was Elvis’ aunt Delta, who died in 1993.
Faced with having to sell Graceland, Priscilla examined other famous houses/museums, and hired a CEO, Jack Soden, to turn Graceland into a moneymaker. Priscilla's gamble paid off; after only a month of opening Graceland's doors the estate made back all the money it had invested. Priscilla Presley became the chairwoman and president of Elvis Presley Enterprises, or EPE, stating at that time she would do so until Lisa Marie reached 21 years of age.
About half of the 23 rooms in the house are off-limits to visitors, including the entire second floor — where the star's master suite is located. Elvis probably added the pool right when they bought the house, since it was essentially if not totally complete by the time of photographer Al Wertheimer’s visit to 1034 on July 4, 1956. Leaving Jeanne and the rest of the family to tend to Carol, I peek into the narrow tiled bathroom and see that to the right is the front bedroom where Howard and Ruth sleep, along with Carol and baby Elaine. A bright room with pink floral wallpaper, it has two closets and three windows looking out onto the front and side yards. Exiting this bedroom, I walk back to the main hall and head down to the right. All of the bedrooms are on the right, or south, side of the house, including the front bedroom I just left.
Transfer to a small bowl and stir in 2 tablespoons of parsley and ¼ teaspoon each salt and black pepper; set aside. Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, whisk 1¾ cups water, the egg yolks, and the cornstarch until smooth. Set the pan over medium-low heat and cook, whisking constantly, until the mixture comes to a gentle simmer and is airy and thickened, 5 to 7 minutes; use a silicone spatula to occasionally get into the corners of the pan. Add the garlic, shallot, and pepper flakes, then cook, stirring constantly, until the garlic is light golden brown, about 30 seconds. Add the wine and cook, stirring, until the liquid has almost evaporated, 30 to 60 seconds. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is slightly thickened, 6 to 7 minutes. In a 12-inch nonstick skillet set over medium-high heat, heat 2 tablespoons of oil until it shimmers. Add the panko and cook, stirring often, until golden brown, about 2 minutes.

From the coast of Veneto, Italy, gamberi alla busara is a dish of whole shell-on prawns in a garlicky tomato sauce spiked with white wine. For this weeknight version, we use shelled shrimp, but we prefer them jumbo-size (21 to 25 shrimp per pound) so the dish has heft and substance. It’s true that the 21-bedroom property appeals to almost any hobby or interest. For the automotive enthusiast there’s a 30-car garage on the subterranean level, complete with two turntables for showcasing your most bragworthy marques. Also on this level is the movie theater for cinephiles, the 10,000-bottle wine cellar for vino enthusiasts and the cigar lounge for those who’d rather just unwind with a stogie.

The smokiness of the bacon will overwhelm the cleaner flavors of the egg-based sauce. Unfortunately, the One’s new owner— Richard Saghian, founder and CEO of apparel company Fashion Nova—will have to wait just a little longer to find that out firsthand. It’s expected to take several more months of construction and somewhere around $20 million to finish the home and then obtain a certificate of occupancy. While that price tag may sound outlandish, there’s no denying the home’s bevy of amenities make it unique, even among other jaw-dropping estates in Los Angeles. When asked if the band might be thinking about retiring, Skjerseth said he doubts that will happen.

In 2023, Marlin and Frantz will celebrate the release of Watchhouse (Duo) with a short run of shows that will feature just the two of them, harkening back to their earliest days of performing. Still, every night, Andrew especially was paid to relive a lifetime of grievances and griefs onstage. After 2019’s Tides of a Teardrop, a tender accounting of his mother’s early death, the process became evermore arduous, even exhausting.

Harris has emerged as a top surrogate for the president ahead of the 2024 general election, specifically targeting black groups in a number of battleground states. According to Apple maps, the headquarters, which is located at 900 Franklin Avenue, is about a ten-minute walk from Magnolia Market, aka the Silos. Grilling the lemons before juicing them mellows their sharpness and acidity, adding a subtle sweetness to the sauce. Our version is made with grated zest in the marinade; we then add the juice to finish the sauce just before serving. By the time 2019 came to its fitful end, Andrew Marlin knew he was tired of touring. He was grateful, of course, for the ascendancy of Mandolin Orange, the duo he’d cofounded in North Carolina with fiddler Emily Frantz exactly a decade earlier. With time, they had become new flagbearers of the contemporary folk world, sweetly singing soft songs about the hardest parts of our lives, both as people and as a people.
For our spaghetti carbonara, we learned to lighten up the Roman classic by using whisked egg yolks to create an airy foam that melds with pecorino Romano cheese to create a creamy sauce. Next, our quick-yet-elegant skillet dish captures the essence of the Veneto region with succulent shrimp and a garlicky tomato sauce, finished with a sprinkling of toasted bread crumbs. Finally, we dress chicken in bright Mediterranean flavors with an herby, citrusy sauce made from lemons caramelized on the grill. While the chicken rests, grill the lemon halves cut side down on the hot side of the grate until grill-marked, 2 to 3 minutes. Squeeze 2½ tablespoons juice from 1 or 2 of the grilled lemon halves, then stir the juice along with the parsley into the reserved garlic-lemon oil to make the salmoriglio.

Their rise—particularly crowds that grew first to fill small dives, then the Ryman, then amphitheaters the size of Red Rocks—humbled Emily and Andrew, who became parents to Ruby late in 2018. Using tongs, reposition the chicken so that the pieces farthest from the fire are now closest; keep the chicken skin side up. Re-cover and continue to cook until the thickest part of the breast, if using, reaches 160 degrees or the thickest parts of the thighs and drumsticks, if using, reach 175 degrees, another 5 to 10 minutes. For a gas grill, turn all burners to high and heat, covered, for 15 minutes, then clean and oil the cooking grate; leave the primary burner on high and turn the remaining burner(s) to low. Stir the pasta and 1 tablespoon salt into the boiling water and cook until al dente. Reserve about ½ cup of the cooking water, then drain the pasta very well.

But during a vibrant two-hour show, the Stones played with the energy of band that was on tour for the first time. While the Gaineses initially thought they would turn the old Grand Karem Shrine Building into their headquarters, that historic structure is now their Hotel 1928, so the growing brand needed somewhere to work out of. Well, in 2021, according to KCEN-TV, the designer duo purchased the old Waco Tribune-Herald building that was constructed in 1950 and decided to renovate it to create their perfect HQ. It took them a while, but in 2023, the Gaineses were finally able to perform a ribbon cutting ceremony in front of the 110,000-square-foot building.
The coffee bar sits at the bottom of a three-story atrium that was once the press room, so it was aptly named The Press Room, and it's open for both employees and guests, according to the Waco Tribune-Herald. Watchhouse is currently touring across 1 country and has 11 upcoming concerts. Using tongs, flip the chicken skin side down onto the hot side of the grill. Cook until the skin is lightly browned and crisp, 1 to 2 minutes, moving the chicken as needed to avoid flare-ups.
A set of infinity pools create a sort of moat that surrounds the main home, further adding to the “castle on a hill” vibe. But it’s just one of many reasons you’ll want to spend time outdoors here. The 10,000-square-foot roof deck, for instance, has spectacular views of the city—the mansion’s elevator stops here, too, so you won’t have to hoof it up the stairs. As someone who has been inside the Magnolia headquarters when I went to Waco to stay in Hotel 1928, I can confirm that there is a court that can be used for a multitude of sports purposes inside the building. Magnolia's reported $21 million renovation also included putting in a golf simulator, a coffee bar, a test kitchen for developing recipes for Joanna's cookbooks, and plenty of places to lounge about.
Unless you're visiting Waco on direct Magnolia-related business, your only view into the HQ is through the front windows or via Joanna's Instagram reels, one of which you can see below. Not only is there a coffee bar, but there's also a golf simulator and basketball court. American Acoustic grew out of a festival curated by Punch Brothers mandolinist and frontman Chris Thile at Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center in 2016. The inaugural traveling edition hit the road in 2017 and the 2022 run marks the first American Acoustic since then and will feature a collaborative acoustic format captured by two condenser microphones. The second iteration of the band’s American Acoustic format will see Punch Brothers teaming up with Watchhouse for the entire run as well as Sarah Jarosz on select dates.

We, however, prefer to toast some panko bread crumbs and sprinkle them on top to add crispiness and texture. Meanwhile the primary bedroom alone is larger than most New York City apartments at 5,000 square feet, and has its own sitting room, massive his and hers closets and an office. And for visiting guests who’d prefer a separate building entirely, there’s a 4,500-square-foot guest house on the grounds as well.

Serve the sauce and the remaining grilled lemon halves with the chicken. Grate 2 teaspoons zest from the lemons, then halve them crosswise and set aside. In a small bowl, stir together the zest, oil, garlic, oregano, 1¼ teaspoons salt, and ½ teaspoon pepper. Transfer ¼ cup of the mixture to a large bowl, add the chicken, and turn to coat. Pour the pecorino-egg mixture over the pasta and toss with tongs until well combined, then toss in pepper.

The 105,000-square-foot Bel Air megamansion, which took well over 10 years to build, has come across its share of logistical and legal problems over the years, but was finally sold at auction on March 3. While the original auction asking price was $295 million—itself a reduction from the $340 million listing price in 2021, and the $500 million price tag before that—the home ended up selling for $126 million. The new owner will actually shell out $141 million, which is the sale price plus the 12% buyer premium to Concierge Auctions.
This price is likely a disappointment to the megamansion’s developer, the controversial Nile Niami, and his investors, and it falls short of being the most expensive home sale in California—or even in Bel Air. But the One does now rank as the most expensive home ever sold at auction. Before Sunday’s concert, Jagger spent time on Friday touring NASA’s Johnson Space Center in suburban Houston, posting photos on his Instagram account of him with astronauts inside Mission Control. While the stage was surrounded by a large collection of video screens projecting images throughout the show, the main focus of the concert was the band and their songs. Houston was the first stop on the band’s 16-city tour across the U.S. and Canada. Other cities on the tour include New Orleans, Philadelphia and Vancouver, British Columbia.
This brighter take on carbonara came from Pipero Roma in Rome, where the chef whisked the egg yolks until cooked and slightly foamy, creating a sauce that is much lighter in texture than most carbonara recipes. Mixing the yolks with water and cornstarch ensures the cheese won’t clump up when tossed with the pasta. For a charcoal grill, ignite a large chimney of coals, let burn until lightly ashed over, then distribute the coals evenly over one side of the grill bed and open the bottom grill vents. Heat the grill, covered, for 5 minutes, then clean and oil the cooking grate. Browning shrimp on both sides can cause them to become rubbery and overdone in the finished dish. Instead, we sear only one side to develop flavor from caramelization, not to fully cook the shrimp.
With the 2021 death of drummer Charlie Watts, the Stones are now comprised of the core trio of Jagger, Richards and Wood. On Sunday, they were backed by various musicians including two keyboardists, a new drummer, backup singers and a brass section. After playing “Beast of Burden,” Jagger said that concertgoers in Houston had voted to include it on the set list.

Having no choice, they hide inside the house and discover that everything was planned.
What’s more, those tunes—and the band’s entire catalogue, really—conflicted with the name Mandolin Orange, an early-20s holdover that never quite comported with the music they made. Nightly soundchecks, at least, provided temporary relief, as the band worked through a batch of guarded but hopeful songs written just after Ruby’s birth. Obviously the One makes for a great party pad, doubly so because it has its own in-house night club. “We call it the philanthropy wing because it’s similar to something in the Pritzker Estate where they host thousands of people for charity events,” says Rayni Williams.
They’ve sold out iconic venues (Red Rocks, Ryman Auditorium) and attract hundreds of millions of streams while producing exploratory music that "redefines roots music for a younger generation" (Washington Post). Those tunes are now Watchhouse, which would have been Mandolin Orange’s sixth album but is instead their first also under the name Watchhouse, a moniker inspired by Marlin’s place of childhood solace. The name, like the new record itself, represents their reinvention as a band at the regenerative edges of subtly experimental folk-rock. Challenging as they are charming, and an inspired search for personal and political goodness, these nine songs offer welcome lessons about what any of us might become when the night begins to break. Some recipes for gamberi alla busara include bread crumbs that thicken the sauce.
The Stones have hit the road to support the release of their latest album, “Hackney Diamonds,” the band’s first record of original music since 2005. The age doesn’t show,” Dale Skjerseth, the Stones’ production director, said Friday before the concert. “It’s great to be back in the Lone Star State,” Jagger told the packed stadium, filled with longtime fans, many wearing faded concert shirts from previous tours. What many believe to be the greatest rock ‘n’ roll band in the world showed no signs of slowing down anytime soon as they kicked off their latest tour Sunday night at Houston’s NRG Stadium. The Waco Tribune-Herald reported (assumedly out of their new headquarters) that while other Magnolia structures are designed for shopping, lounging, or eating, this building is off-limits to the public eye.
Transfer the chicken skin side up to a platter and let rest for about 5 minutes. Use tongs rather than a fork to move the chicken pieces on the grill. A fork creates holes that allow juices to escape, resulting in drier meat.
Cook, stirring, until the shrimp are opaque throughout, 1 to 2 minutes. Transfer to a serving dish and sprinkle with the toasted bread crumbs. Extra virgin olive oil, lemon, garlic, and herbs constitute salmoriglio, a sauce/marinade from southern Italy (specifically, Calabria and Sicily).
The tray has a sophisticated irrigation system and holds a few inches of water to keep the grass moist. The field, with 94,000 square feet (over 2 acres) of natural grass, stays outside in the sun until game day. This allows the grass to get maximum sun and nourishment and also frees up the stadium floor for other events. Building Ford Field posed unique challenges for the design team, lead by SmithGroup Inc. To fit this huge structure into the scenic Detroit entertainment district, the architects lowered the upper deck and constructed the stadium 45 feet below ground level.

Throughout the stadium, fans can find concession stands for ballpark classics like warm pretzels and, of course, the iconic 10-inch Dodger Dogs — either traditional style or plant-based. Mexican food is also popular and offered on different levels throughout the stadium. Some favorites include churros, the Carne Asada Torta from the LA Open Deck Circle, as well as tacos, grilled corn and more from La Taqueria Express. VIP seating at Dodger Stadium includes club seats as well as private suites. Club seats are on the third level of the stadium, where they are almost completely covered by the Reserve deck, and are known as the “Executive Club.” This area provides smaller sections as well as a private bar and concessions area. Private Suites, known as Bank of America Suites, are indoor areas for 20 to 30 guests.

Outdoor sports in California are usually played on grass due to the state's highly favorable climate. However, a grass field is very difficult to maintain to an acceptable standard when it is used by more than one gridiron football team. Because SoFi Stadium was intended from the outset to be used by two NFL teams, the designers opted not to install a natural playing surface. The stadium joined California Memorial Stadium as the only major sports facilities in California currently in use to have artificial turf installed. In North American professional sports, it is the fourth stadium complex in Greater Los Angeles shared by more than one team from the same league.

The stadium's official name comes from the Raymond James Financial company, which purchased the naming rights shortly before the stadium opened. While another Major League Soccer team that plays in an NFL stadium could enjoy a record-setting crowd, an intriguing (dare we say a way-too-early MLS Cup preview?) will be taking place at Red Bull Arena. Sports Authority Field at Mile High was called INVESCO Field in 2008 when Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama chose it as the site for his acceptance speech. The hockey rink is named for former Yale hockey captains David S. Ingalls (1920) and David S. Ingalls, Jr. (1956). The Ingalls family provided most of the funding for the Rink's construction. For this stadium at the Meadowlands, developers wanted it to fit in with the surrounding buildings. The Arena has become outdated — touring productions have outgrown the Arena's low ceilings and inadequate technologies. The NFL has a clear bag policy to enter the draft area, Fulgenzi said. If you decide to drive downtown, make a plan and prearrange parking. Many off-street lots and garages are booked, and street parking will be limited or restricted in the area.

Constructed before high-powered computer-aided design (CAD) programs, the geometric tensile architecture roofing throughout the 1972 Olympic Park was one of the first large-scale projects of its kind. Like the German Pavilion at the 1967 Montreal Expo, but much larger, the tent-like structure on the stadium venue was prefabricated off-site and assembled on-site. Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan opened in 2002, but the round structure is actually set into the side of the historic Old Hudson's Warehouse complex, built in 1920.

“For someone who’s been to the stadium as many times as you say you have. It’s a little odd you don’t know the clear bag policy that’s at almost every stadium now,” one person commented on Boosler’s video. Under the Dodgers’ policy, which is similar to those of teams throughout the league, fans are not allowed to bring in bags, backpacks, beach bags, hard or soft coolers and large purses. Detroit is a city rich with museums, restaurants and activities throughout. The NFL will have weapon detectors installed that attendees must walk through at the gates of the event, which will take place at Cadillac Square, Campus Martius, Hart Plaza and a portion of Woodward Avenue.
A translucent "Bird-Air" fabric roof fills the interior space with light and air. Critics of the Sydney Olympic Stadium claimed that although the design was functional, its appearance was uninspiring. The size of the place, combined with the technical demands, meant that art had to take a back seat. What's more, the huge structure dwarfs the nearby aquatic center and tree-lined boulevards. Noted architect Philip Cox told reporters that the Sydney Stadium "looks like a Pringles potato chip, does not break new ground, and is not iconic enough."

“I’ve sung the anthem here five times, I’ve been in the booth 50 times, I’ve done everything extra for Dodger Stadium a comedian can do,” the comedian said. Boosler, 71, was walking into the stadium for the Dodgers’ matchup against the New York Mets with her brand new baseball-shaped handbag when she was stopped by security. Activities include a Pro Football Hall of Fame exhibit and an autograph signing opportunity with current and former NFL players, as well as a 40-yard dash, vertical jump, deep throw accuracy challenges, and more. There will also be a collection of Detroit-based food trucks for participants who attend. Detroit police have partnered with the NFL and local businesses on the security plan, as well as state and federal law enforcement, according to 3rd Precinct Cmdr. Matthew Fulgenzi.
The stadium was oval and the seats were set relatively close to the field. The Teflon/fiberglass roof provided enclosure while admitting natural light, a good example of tensile architecture. Architect Peter Eisenman worked in conjunction with HOK Sport, Hunt Construction Group, and Urban Earth Design to design an innovative, earth-friendly stadium for the University of Phoenix. Encompassing 1.7 million square feet, the Stadium is a multipurpose facility with the ability to host football, basketball, soccer, concerts, consumer shows, motorsports, rodeos, and corporate events.
In 2012, the Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation (HCSCC) began the long process of analysis in order to form recommendations for the future of Park. NRG Energy bought Reliant Energy, so although the name has changed, the commitment to the future of this complex has not changed. Home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the NCAA's South Florida Bulls football team, the Raymond James Stadium is famous for its 103-foot, 43-ton pirate ship. Architect Peter Eisenman designed an innovative facade for the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona, but it's the playing field that really rocks and rolls. When Forsyth Barr opened in 2011, the architects at Populous claimed it to be the "world’s only permanently enclosed, natural turf stadium" and the "largest ETFE covered structure in the Southern Hemisphere." In 2018, the stadium was scheduled to be redeveloped again, including the addition of a retractable roof.
